Nineteen of the Russian's 21 championships have been won on hardcourt

A revitalized Medvedev claimed his first trophy for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has had a difficult season, managing just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the American major.

His varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in especial - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with long-term mentor Cervara.

Presently collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the past month - peaking in a closely contested three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.

It is Medvedev's first title after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt from that period of 2023.

The win also indicates he has won 21 titles at 21 various events.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to get a trophy is particularly special," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my child Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six finals, including in that event previously this season.

His retrieving strategy and recurring reactions on the tennis court had led some to wonder if his capacity to play at the top level was over.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and perform aggressively, supported by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev came back from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, securing four of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

The pair exchanged breaks in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his initial ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

The opponent rescued 4 early chances in a close final set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner clinched the win with a rally at the net, with Moutet incapable to control a volley after a lengthy match.
