Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a wide array of characters, and a thrilling plot showcasing angels, fiends, and sinister influences growing in influence within the city.
Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The latest chapter concluded with a huge suspense moment and presented the initial group of adventurers who will separate from the primary party to begin their separate journey, apart from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team features Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be impossible.
Hence, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a traditionally charged battle-oriented story mode where diplomatic options are rare.
Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might seem mismatched, but the actions of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the party understands precisely where to head next after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose demise started the story’s plot—exploited The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading the hidden lair, striking the character, and swiping all the enchanted items to auction.
The antagonist then settled his obligations and escaped to a secure base in the remote area, beyond the urban center, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the companion and trusted friend, wants revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the region and warns that it is a dangerous environment.
- The warrior and The healer, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead saved him, have no other options.
- However, their reputation as key figures in the influential clan could assist the group enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The grateful character pledged a life debt to The cleric for his rescue and will now go with him anywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the powers that control the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The rogue and The hero are known criminals.
- The strong figure and The cleric defied the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- Teor is marked for death by the clan.
This results in them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
What’s Next?
From episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the warrior group will not appear the following episode, leaving the rest of the cast members to form the Questers and Schemers tables.
Viewers can look forward to discovering which players will be in which group in the season’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on next week.
